Dance The Night Away

So today marked the end of the first full week of class and I am still trying to process it all. The fact that we have to perform in front of everyone next Friday still has me concerned, but I am trying to stay calm and just go with the flow. There are times that I am kind of bummed that the other class group is a bit larger and get to spend more time together, since my class is so small. Yet they are stuck in class from 9am to 5pm, of course with a small lunch break, but still it has to be exhausting. Oh and they get massive amounts of homework and reading. I almost wished I had taken that class because it is more my element, but this dance course has its moments of pure fun, and also its moments that make me feel crazy overwhelmed. But it is something new and I am doing my best to learn.

We went to the dance club tonight and it was hot and sweaty! We started at Riverside (a bar by the riverside) it was a pretty decent ride except for the fact we took a few back alleys and thought we were about to get kidnapped. Here’s how it began, we got back from going out to dinner, based on my recommendation from the other night. It was really good and I had such a fun time with the other girls but when we got back we found out that the Thai roomie and the other American guy all went to the club without us. They did however leave a piece of paper with the address to give to the taxi, but even still it was difficult communicating. It was funny because every day we walk to class we can’t seem to get the red trucks to stop honking at us, but of course when we tried to get one last night it took forever to find one. So on our way to the bar we had a nice drive, up until we took a few turns and ended up on what looked like one of the back street movie sets for Taken or some other seedy action film. The truck started to slow down which of course made us nervous and it felt like at any moment we would pull up next to some rundown building and guys would pop out and bam we would all have been goners, human trafficking flash. We were all able to joke at the time, but I think secretly on the inside everyone was anxious. I probably should have been more alert, but I was trying the new Thai attitude of ehh whatever happens, happens. Which now as my parents read this will certainly make them worry.

But soon we figured out that the woman in the front seat was getting off at that stop, so it turned out to be nothing. We made it to the bar, which was beautiful, ordered some drinks (no one cards here if I haven’t mentioned that earlier), watched the live band. They play all American music, they love American pop music. Then after a little while we took a tuk tuk to the next place, Zoey Yellow and that’s where the dancing and real interesting people watching began. There were so many drunken people. It was excessively hot, and I will remember next time to not bring a big bag cause there was no place to sit or put things down. We got back by 2am, we closed the club and then by the time we got back it was roughly 2:30am so I thought that things would be better sleep wise but it was the same. I woke up at 7:30 am yet again  and can’t seem to get back to sleep!
